To develop Optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; To Promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; To inspire respect for the law; To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; To aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that giving of one's self in services of others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.
The Optimist Club of Paso Robles was founded in 1991 by John and Ginger Cromwell along with a group of their most treasured friends. Chartered by the Optimist Club of Santa Clarita, the club grew to one of the finest clubs of the Pacific Southwest district of Optimist International. As Optimist International is dedicated to benefiting the youth of the world, The Optimist Club of Paso Robles is dedicated to doing it's part as a single branch of the organization; benefiting the youth of their area. For years the club worked to raise money for scholarships to assist with college educations and leadership programs of their local students. After a time, the scholarships were joined with many different contests, programs, and awards.
Today, the Optimist Club of Paso Robles continues to be dedicated to its cause of benefiting the youth of its area, only now the club has grown in such respect that they participate in local events for children such as "Art de Tiza" in the park for school age children to compete in sidewalk drawing. Host fishing derbies for children of many ages giving awards and prizes to contestant winners. Assist with other non-profit organizations dedicated to different aspects of their own cause and so much more. Today, the Optimist Club of Paso Robles stands strong and firm in their purpose, each member holding a love for each other that only family would and holding love and respect for every child, teen and young adult they help with their kindness, donations and benefits. With the help of each member, the Optimist Club of Paso Robles remains a proud thread in the woven tapestry that is the organization of Optimist International.
